Privacy Policy
This policy explains what FinExplained, an independent personal finance education resource operated by an individual, collects, why, and what choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible.
What we collect
- Calculator inputs: the numbers you type into calculators are processed in your browser to show results. They are not sent to us or stored on our servers.
- Usage analytics: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless analytics tool, to understand which pages are useful. It does not set cookies and does not track you across other sites; it reports aggregate page-view counts, not personal profiles.
- Contact form: the contact form is not active yet, so it sends us nothing today. To reach us, email us at the address below. When the form goes live, the name, email, and message you submit will be used only to reply to you, and we will update this policy to say where messages are delivered.
- Advertising and affiliates: we do not currently run ads or affiliate links and set no advertising cookies. If we add them, we will name the partners and the cookies they set here and keep this consistent with the Cookie Notice.
How we use it
To operate and improve the site, respond to your messages, keep the site secure, and comply with the law. We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and local storage
We store your light or dark theme choice in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it. Details about cookies are in our Cookie Notice.
Sharing
We share data only with the service providers that help us run the site, and only as needed or when required by law. Today that means Cloudflare, which hosts the site and delivers it over its global network and processes basic request data such as IP address for security and reliability, and Cloudflare Web Analytics for cookieless, aggregate usage statistics. We do not sell your personal information.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct or delete it. In practice we hold very little: the calculators run entirely in your browser, we have no user accounts, and we do not build profiles of you. Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the date above when we do, and material changes will be noted on the site.
